Jody Burrows Named Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at Case Western Reserve

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Case Western Reserve University Head Women's Basketball Coach Jennifer Reimer has announced the hiring of Jody Burrows as the program's new assistant coach. Burrows, a former standout point guard at Division I Northeastern University (Mass.), spent the last two seasons on the coaching staff at Oberlin College.

"Along with Jody's strong background, she brings enthusiasm and a great work ethic to our program," said Reimer, who enters her sixth season at CWRU in 2012-13. "We are thrilled that Jody is a part of our team."

Jody Burrows

Burrows was a three-year captain at Northeastern and ranked fourth in Huskie history with 382 assists. During the 2005-06 campaign, she recorded 143 helpers, tying the program single-season record. In 97 career games, Burrows totaled 546 points, 364 rebounds and 138 steals. She was also involved in the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and was named one of NU's Top 100 Most Influential Seniors in 2007.

Following graduation, she spent a season on the coaching staff at her alma mater, working mostly with on-court player development as well as strength & conditioning. In 2010, Burrows joined the staff at Oberlin and spent two seasons with the Yeowomen. While there, she was responsible for prospect evaluation, strength & conditioning and on-court development. Under her guidance, the program produced the North Coast Athletic Conference and D3Hoops.com Regional Newcomer of the Year.

"I am very excited to join the Case Western Reserve University women's basketball family," said Burrows. "I would like to thank Coach Reimer along with Dave Diles (Director of Athletics) for extending me the opportunity to advance my coaching experience at such a prestigious University within one of the nation's top conferences (University Athletic Association). Working with such intelligent student-athletes is a complete bonus, and I look forward to fostering their successes both on and off the court."

Burrows graduated Cum Laude from Northeastern in 2007 with a degree in organizational communications.

The Spartans, 15-10 last season, have turned in four winning campaigns in five seasons under Reimer's tutelage and posted the highest win total for the program in 10 seasons in 2011-12. The team is expected to return three starters and 14 letterwinners in 2012-13.
