St. Ignatius, Mags repeat as champs at 

Lakewood District track and field; Blue

The Division I district high school track and field championships that began in Lakewood Stadium Wednesday were completed Friday, with team titles going to St. Ignatius and Magnificat.

St. Edward had Anthony Young winning the 100, 200, and 400-meter dashes. Aaron Zadella won the shot put and discus for the Eagles.

Magnificat was led by Rachel Hlatky, who won the 100 and dashes and anchored the winning 800 relay team and ran the third leg of the district champion mile relay team.
Also a hero for Mags was Laura Hogan, who won the two-mile race. Naturally, the Streaks won the two-mile relay with Kat Stultz anchoring, Hogan the third leg and Bridgette Coyne and Abi Marqaurd taking the first two spots.

Jasmine Broxton blew past the entire field to win the 100 hurdles for Garfield Heights. Bulldogs teammate Robyn Banks won the 400 dash.
Junior Karissa Steffas won the high jump for Highland by jumping “high” off the “land” to clear five feet and four inches. Teammate Natalie Zidd won the half mile and the mile.

Normandy had Karla Peters win the 300 hurdles and Gracie Rapnicki the shot put. Kathy Hughey also aided the orange and white girls’ cause as she won the pole vault for Normandy.

Revere had Marsissa Harbath take the long jump and Josh Sabo the half mile and mile.

For Padua, Carly Molls won the discus while Bruin Britt Mackulin took second. The other two qualifiers were also from the same school with Mags’ Melissa Brooks taking third and the Streaks’  Morgan Koelliker fourth.

John Sweeney won the two-mile race for Ignatius. Wildcats teammate Keith Carmichael won the pole vault. St. Ignatius Tyree Seals took the title in the 110 hurdles.

Rico Martemus won the 300 hurdles for John Adams. Antwon Smith won the long jump for JFK.
