Avon Lake battled host Lake Catholic even through the first 79:00
minutes of play, then a hand ball gave the Cougars a free kick at
the top of the 18 yd. box. LC Senior Victoria Martinis blasted a
shot at Avon Lake goalie Senior Abby Rogers which she deflected and
LC Junior Bella Osborne was right there to kick the deflection in for
the game winner.  It was the Cougars Senior night and they wanted to
score some goals in front of their large crowd as they sent 33 shots
towards the Shoregal goal with 9 on frame.  The Avon Lake defense was
able to hold off the shot happy Cougars until disaster struck in the
final minute as the hand ball set Lake Catholic up for the winning
goal.  Abby Rogers made 7 saves for the Shoregals and Emily Peterson
blocked a shot at the goal line to prevent a goal in the first half.

In JV action, Avon Lake won by a score of 5-0. Shoregal goals were
netted by Freshmen Elise Duvall, Maggie Moore, and Bri Carlin.
Sophomores Marisa Dzwonczyk and Rada Zunich also scored for Avon Lake.
